The Berlin Senate Chancellery will be the first in 2018 to award the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award for the special engagement of refugees. The award is endowed with a total of 6,000 euros. The theme of this year's award is "Encounters". It recognises initiatives that create encounters between people from different lifestyles and thus help to overcome divisions and hatred, reduce prejudices and contribute to peaceful coexistence in the city. Refugees can apply as individuals or with their initiatives, organisations or companies in which they are involved. Applications will be accepted until September 26th, 2018 at www.farbenbekennen.de.
A multi-member jury consisting of civic society, politics, culture and business will select five outstanding projects from all submissions. The citizens determine the winner via an online vote. The first prize is endowed with 3,000 euros, for the second and third place 2,000 or 1,000 euros awaits. The award of the #FARBENBEKENNEN Award will take place in the Berlin City Hall in December, 2018.
